As a database applications developer working at Northrop-Grumman, Mr. Messick developed GUI components of an integrated engineering database, including creation and revision of engineering parts lists. He redesigned an earlier user interface design using user-tested feedback, resulting in an application that was more responsive, more intuitive to navigate, and conformed to standard Windows look and feel.Mr. Messick completed the following tasks on this assignment:Designed and built the Oracle Developer/2000 GUI for an engineering database, including creation and revision of engineering parts lists, hard copy printout and recreation of the parts list at any point in its history.Reverse-engineered, analyzed and normalized legacy databases.Created reusable libraries of PL/SQL stored procedures and packages along with Oracle Forms templates that allow faster, cheaper development of new applications.Maintained and optimized existing Pro*C and SQL Forms applications, adding new features, and in one case, reducing execution time from over 25 hours to just over one hour.

Mr. Messick designed and developed process control software for automated factory systems in several industries including pharmaceutical manufacturing, poultry processing and gasoline refining. Systems were written using Oracle and Ingres databases and forms, and custom C code running on Vax VMS computers. Mr. Messick completed the following tasks while at Texas Instruments:Designed and implemented user interface to a TI SCADA system allowing users to configure gasoline and fuel oil transfers and blending, selecting tanks, valves and pumps with mouse clicks on displays of familiar schematics. The user set up and modified transfer parameters, and monitored the action in real time. Developed in C, using a custom TI graphics package.Implemented and maintained an order processing system and interfaces to warehouse, lab and maintenance systems for an automated lube oil blending plant. Software written in C and embedded SQL. Also wrote and maintained many Oracle SQL Forms.Wrote poultry plant order processing system using Ingres forms, 4GL, embedded SQL.Using Rdb and C under VMS, designed and implemented a system to dynamically select material movement paths through pharmaceutical plant and allocate equipment for manufacture, logging data for batch reports used for FDA certification.

Mr. Messick designed and developed software to control robotic cells kitting and storing electronic parts, and assembling printed circuit boards. He also designed and implemented software to integrate said cells with existing engineering and manufacturing computer systems. Specific task completed by Mr. Messick include:Wrote Fortran software for a robotic circuit board assembly station that adjusted assembly coordinates based on the actual board position detected by a camera at the station.Developed control software for a parts storage carousel, coordinating and optimizing carousel movement to deliver parts to assembly robots placed around the carousel.
