POWER PLANT ENGINEER/TURBINE SPECIALIST • MIDWEST GENERATION/NRG • 2004-PRESENTEngineering responsibilities include operations and maintenance support, performance monitoring, and project management to maintain safe, effective, and efficient operation of the plant. Areas of expertise include:• Monitor deviations from unit efficiency through PI, PDM, and heat rate analysis to determine equipment conditions and develop technical solutions. • Responsible for accurate data entry and analysis for unit performance and fuel consumption through Power GADS (Generating Availability Data System, monthly U.S. Energy Information Administration reporting, and maintaining historical plant operational data.• Plan and oversee maintenance, repair, and capital improvement projects including budget projections and justifications. • Develop turbine and auxiliary systems outage plans based on historical data and OEM recommendations including work prioritization, group work assignments, and contracts.• Interpret inspection and testing results to determine future outage work scopes.• Selected for the Turbine Water Induction Program (TWIP) which entailed intensive education to provide training to the operations department and develop procedures for inspection and testing of TWIP equipment. • As part of the RCA team, develop recommendations utilizing the change analysis program if maintenance intervention is required.• Focus on the culture of safety as a member of the process hazard analysis team in the development of standards for hydrogen operations and walking working surfaces. • Expert in the use of various applications including PI, Power GADS, Excel, and SAP.• Operational procedure writing for new system installs
