Bill Perkins has been editorial page editor of the Dothan Eagle since 1995. His work has been published by the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Atlanta Constitution, Nation’s Business, Business Alabama Monthly, PASTE magazine, and other publications. He has been a guest speaker at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and spent three weeks with a team of editorial writers studying the spread and treatment of HIV/AIDS in southeast Asia in 2004. He was the recipient of the 1999 and 2000 Thomson Newspapers Award for editorial writing, the 2004 Alabama Press Association award for editorial writing, and was a finalist for the Nieman Fellowship in Journalism at Harvard University in 2005 and 2006. He has served as a member the board of directors of the Alabama Writers Forum and He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Alabama Writers Forum and the Journalism Advisory Council at Auburn University.
