Bill Reid is a software product builder and designer with over 15 years creating forestry and maritime B2B products including development, project management, and user experience design. Currently, Bill is working at SkillsHub Enterprises, creating an all-inclusive actor training program and trying to delight his customers. During Bill’s time with Helm Operations, he led the design and managed the creation of four Forestry software products while leading Helm’s Forestry division. During that time, he landed several large sales and led the redesign and development of their premier Forestry product. Bill moved on to lead the operations of the company, introducing agile management methodologies and formal operational standards to improve profitability and client relations. As well, Bill was a speaker at several conferences discussing how software can improve the operations of the forestry and maritime industry.Bill finished his time at Helm as the VP of Product as the company needed to transition both its software design and business strategy through their flagship maritime product. Bill introduced UX and formal product management to Helm while, over 3 years, led the “re-imagining” of how the product solved the same problems. The redesign of the product involved 7 integrated modules including Dispatching, Invoicing, Maintenance, Purchasing, Inventory, Safety and Compliance. The product strategy and redesign were instrumental in the sale of Helm Operations (where he was a minority shareholder), to the Japanese Class Society ClassNK in 2014. Following this full immersion into the world of UX and Product Management, Bill left that intensive effort to take a year off and then start his own company for consulting and building products.Specialties: Client communications, UX Analysis & Design, Product Strategy and Operations planning.
