In mid 2019 my 33 year career with News Corp Australia came to a close as a result of the rapidly changing media landscape. During my time at Australia’s largest content company I experienced a range of different roles in what was an evolving world of print and digital media. As a result, I have extensive experience in managing a variety of work streams including Marketing, Customer Service, Sales, Logistics and Operations teams within a fast moving, deadline centric business. I was a senior member of News Corps Tasmanian executive team, where I was valued for my ability to build internal and external relationships and for my capacity in crisis management. I was involved in, and managed, a number of projects that were instrumental in transforming the Tasmanian business and was also involved on a number of national projects in the Marketing and Logistics areas. At the conclusion of my tenure with News Corp I commenced work at the University of Tasmania in the Global Division. I was initially going to be required for only a few weeks, however, the role evolved rapidly and was extended in order to provide support for the leadership team, plus a number of business units within the Division, following significant changes that occured in 2019. The Division of Future Students was then created in early 2020 and I was appointed to the role of Divsion Manager. COVID then struck and I played a significant role in transitioning the division to a working from home business model. The divison then underwent a significant change program, with a major imact on the adminstration team, which I was asked to support through the transiton. My contract with UTAS finished in July 2021 which meant the initial 3 week offer turned into a 22 month contract. After taking a few months off (I like to call my very overdue ‘gap year’), I am now working for the Tasmanian Walking Company as a guide on the 3 Capes Walk, which is possibly so far beyond my wildest dream job I find it hard to describe!Tasmania has been mine and my family’s home since moving from Perth WA in 1998. I am devoted to my wonderful family and in my spare time enjoy working around our small acre farm in Margate or, when time permits, exploring the remote corners of our beautiful Island to pursue my passion for the Tasmanian wilderness. I have been fortunate enough to experience several of Tasmania’s great wilderness walks including Federation Peak; the South Coast Track; the Overland Track; Tasman Island, Three Capes Track, Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour, with many more yet to be explored.
