As it appears on publications and for speaking events.Bill Steer is the founder of the Canadian Ecology Centre and remains as the General Manager/Head Master of one of Canada’s leading environmental education centres www.canadianecology.ca . It is located within Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park.The Teachers’ Mining Tour evolved from the CEC’s M.A.D.E. principle – Make A Difference Environmentally. The week-long, comprehensive teachers mining and forestry tours are based upon making informed decisions through “seeing is believing.” That is what the Canadian Ecology Centre is all about.He also developed the national geomatics certification program. See www.greencheckgps.ca . It is the relationship between the map, the compass and the the GPS unit. It is about learning the two spatial languages, latitude and longitude and UTM. The program is utilized across Canada.At Nipissing University, in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, he teaches geography and outdoor experiential courses along with the environmental science AQ courses for the Faculty of Education. B.Ed. candidates.
