Bill is Gold Star’s General Counsel. He leads the Company’s Legal, Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, Licensing, Quality Control, Vendor Management, and HR Teams. In this role, he is responsible for identifying and managing Company-wide legal and compliance risks and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws in the more than 45 states where Gold Star operates. He is a key member of the Company's Executive Leadership Team, which is responsible for long-term strategy and operating plans for the Company. In addition to Gold Star's mortgage division, Bill also leads various teams and advises Gold Star's other businesses, including its title company, hockey agency, and licensing company.Prior to joining Gold Star, Bill was Associate General Counsel at United Wholesale Mortgage where he helped launch UWM's virtual e-close platform which completed the mortgage industry’s first ever fully digital, remote e-closing. He was also in private practice at several law firms in the Detroit, Michigan area representing and advising lending institutions, title underwriters, title companies, business entities, landlords, and individuals in commercial and residential real property litigation.Bill received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Bill was a member of the University of Michigan ice hockey team from 1997-2001, winning a Division I National Championship in 1998. Go Blue!
