The SAM project provides physical (building) and logical (network and systems) access control for the entire Wells Fargo workforce via an innovative Smart Card program.* Worked with HR, Risk Management, Information Security and other business groups within Wells to develop systems to synchronize legacy Oracle, Informix, MS-SQL and LDAP data sources. The key business objective was to automate access control for new, rehired or terminated employees based on HR system of record data and was successfully achieved.* Developed and implemented a production system strategy for fault tolerance and scalability leveraging MySQL replication and clustering technologies.* Worked with networking groups and upper management to justify allocation of a class C subnet and DNS sub domain for the SAM project and implemented the technology infrastructure, including redundant DHCP and BIND servers in support of the initiative.* Managed all development, support and QA environments including physical hardware, VMware virtual machines, operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and software.

Developed a web server to enable rapid research and development of traffic flow models using data from GPS enabled cell phones in a joint venture between U.C. Berkeley, Nokia and Caltrans. Created system architecture and designed database schema and Java object model. Lead the implementation team, developed server code and database queries, mentored grad students. Shopping.com is a proprietary, massively parallel product/deal search index that delivers over 140 million data queries per day to SDC's merchants and publishers, built with C/C++, BerkeleyDB and MySQL and delivered as a web service using Java, Soap/Rest, XML/XSLT, PHP and Perl. Major accomplishments included: * Managed a team of 26 developers working on diverse project portfolio. * Worked with product managers to define requirements, develop project plans. * Participated in quarterly roadmap planning process. * Worked with project management office to refine the development process.

Provided leadership, architecture and project management through launch of several technology integration projects for architecture firms and property management companies. Projects were focused on integration of Internet, telephony, building management, security and wireless technologies to integrate web applications, IVR auto-attendants, building control systems and PBX systems for occupants, guests and clients. Technologies integrated included: Telrad PBX, VoiceGuide, PassPoint, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Apache, VBScript, H.323 and SIP.

Managed and directed multiple teams and led the architecture and development initiatives to create internal tools, processes and build systems used by CNET developers, content authors and producers. This included a software build and deployment system that enabled independent, incremental system updates to be deployed in real time to live web/app servers; a content metadata creation and editing tool that allowed new content types (such as streaming video) to be rapidly deployed into production and integrated into the site; rebuilding the product search index by replacing AltaVista with MySQL full text search; developing an A/B web page test platform and various other projects. Was key member of architecture redesign for Webshots, (a CNET acquired property) the largest photo sharing site on the internet, achieving over 1.2 million new photo uploads per day. Environment is Java, PHP, MySQL, APACHE, C/C++ and Lucene.

Cofounded a consulting company focused on delivering strategic technology solutions to financial institutions. Clients and projects included: Bank of America - Home Banking; Providian - Aria Online; Brodia - C2C payment system, telephone voice response system, cellular (WAP) account access system, e-commerce platform; CNET networks - sales force automation system. Built the company to 38 employees and $4.5 million in annual sales. Managed day to day operations, oversaw all large projects, provided strategic and technical direction for the company.

Responsible for architecture and management of the implementation of Bank of America's internet home banking suite, which launched in July, 1999. As a director, managed 45 employees through 6 managers. Operated as the chief architect during the design phase of the project. Later as a consultant (post BA / NationsBanc merger), managed the implementation team that developed the site. System handles 120,000 user sessions (average) per day, with a customer base of nearly one million.

Responsible for technical strategy and implementation of an intranet based education delivery management system. Led team of 3 engineers in implementation of prototype product in Java, Perl and C/C++ on Windows/NT.

Responsible for a department of 30 engineers, including technical publications and quality assurance. Responsible for budget of $3 million, brought in under budget in 1995, 1996. Major accomplishments included:* Member of the 4 person Executive Committee managing the company: CEO, CFO, VP of sales, VP of Engineering.* Championed, authored and implemented an A to Z engineering process.* Reorganized the department, established separate quality assurance and technical publications groups.* Significantly raised the quality of all products.* Responsible for producing over 25 product releases in 1995, 27 in 1996.* Responsible for two product lines (Open Systems and Tandem) including 15 separate products.* Responsible for release 2.0 of the Unix based Enlighten/DSM product, which was the recipient of many press awards including "Product of the Year" by Unix Review.* Interfaced with sales, support and marketing to achieve overall strategic company goals.

Led the product development effort for OpenV*Perform and OpenV*Trend Unix performance analysis system. Responsible for a team of 6 engineers. Released several versions of product on multiple operating system and hardware platforms. Accomplishments included:* Led all architectural and design efforts.* Managed development cycles and releases across all platforms.* Participated in company wide architecture committee.* Managed the integration of the product with OpenVision's Open Event Manager product.

Worked at several client sites designing and developing software for various markets and purposes. Major accomplishments included:* Worked at Clear Communications Inc., developing software for wide area network management. Programmed in C, C++, Motif, Open Look under SunOS. Led the development effort for all presentation graphics, written in Postscript.* Worked at AT&T Bell Labs, on a team developing a simulation test environment for the 5ESS telephone switch. Work included design and implementation of kernel subsystems, software tools and debuggers under AT&T 3B20 Unix, SunOS and Amdahl's UTS.* Worked at Tellabs Inc., developing internal test tools, compilers/linkers, trouble tracking systems other internal tools.* As business unit Manager, led the development and marketing of the SYSMON product. Achieved initial sales to over 25 diversified customers.* Successfully orchestrated the technology purchase of SYSMON by OpenVision, which then became the OpenV*Perform / OpenV*Trend product line (see above).
