  Initially in charge of ICT security products and R&D for UK government, series of sideways moves into Design Technology Division (PABX design, VLSI design, CADCAM, Telephony and LAN products, groupware and artificial intelligence/expert systems to support business processes),then Home and Business Comms Division (multimedia, video on demand, consumer products, aid for disabled customers, home of the future). In addition to directing technical strategy for these divisions of around 150 people, also had bottom-line financial responsibilty and personnel line management, thus can claim some experience of managing R and D. Was Labs liaison with BT retail and leisure line-of-business, attended main marketing board of BT's personal customer division (which is responsible for all BT domestic customers.)
