I was born to code.I couldn't believe how much fun my first programming class was during a high school PG year. Then I took a computer science programming class in college and thought, "they give a degree for this?". I substituted graduate computer science classes for undergraduate electives and got a combined BA/MA in computer science.I was lucky enough to work on embedded real time operating system kernels, network device drivers, distributed file systems and other aspects of RTOS development. This was a perfect fit , since I love working at the hardware/software interface and the systems level.I applied that knowledge to communications devices and applications including protocol development, linux socket programming, linux kernel modules, and embedded device video streaming. It's been great to be part of TCP/IP networking growth.I have the reputation for getting stuff done quickly. This comes from continuously automating the development process down to the smallest steps and simulating as many surrounding components as possible.I've led teams in every company I've worked at, have developed the ability to clearly document architectural descriptions with text and diagrams, have taken multiple products from concept to production deployment and enjoy working with product management to try and figure out what the customer really wants. Software development isn't always fun or easy. I've spent many long hours (and days) debugging elusive race conditions, integrating with third party libraries and trying to figure out what the heck the hardware is doing. But at the end of the day, the problem always gets solved, and I can move on to writing the next function, class or module. I find that truly exciting! And that's why I believe I was born to code.
