About Bill Atkinson
Who knew that when I was a teenager and had become an accomplished trumpet musician that I would one day end up serving as a Navy SEAL in the United States Navy?It took endless hours of practice and dedication to play the trumpet and it paid off when I was selected as part of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra during high school. Just a few years later, after realizing college wasn’t the path for me, I made the decision to join the Navy.I joined the Navy with the goal of becoming a hull technician on a ship and after just a few months, I was introduced to the Navy’s Underwater Demolition Team, which later became more well-known as the Navy SEAL Team. To become a SEAL took even more endless hours of practice, commitment, dedication, and physical stamina, but I’d had at least a whiff of that when I wanted to become a musician. The training and qualification challenges transformed me and ultimately helped me discover the leader within, as well as the mentorship and guidance I could provide to those with whom I served.I was honored to serve on the SEAL teams for 21 years and retired from service in the late ‘90s. I am humbled to have completed my military career with distinction as Command Master Chief of SEAL Team EIGHT.Today, through my company, The Elemental Edge, I work with professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs to help them realize and exceed their own expectations of themselves through guided self-discovery. The slogan, which embodies my business is “achieving excellence through personal challenge.”Whether you work for a company, organization, or are an entrepreneur, members of my team and I can help dramatically change the way you think and act.If you or your teams struggle with aspects of organizational development or need help with creating a cohesive team, increasing productivity, or changing stale ways of thinking, you will benefit from our action-oriented training. (Don't worry...I won't have you doing push-ups!)Our Navy SEAL mindset approach is where we emphasize that anyone can nurture and develop an uncommon desire to succeed. Don’t let the “military-sounding” aspect of this intimidate you. I assure you, there’s no forcing, pushing, intimidation, or beatdowns that translate as failure, even for just one person. Our goal for you or your team? We want you to achieve and perform at a higher level. You just don’t know how yet. We’ll help you to “be here, now” as we work and inspire you to make positive changes.Let’s connect and see how we can work together!Email: Bill@ElementalEdgeTraining.com
