inHeritage is a heritage interpretation consultancy delivering innovative and accessible opportunities to communicate your key messages to your target audiences through a range of traditional and new media. We also manage interpretation, community archaeology and oral history projects.

I specialise in visualising and writing about archaeological and historical sites from around the world. My aim is to evoke the sense of place and people's engagement with a site as well as its historical importance.I am available to undertake commissions, exhibitions and residencies. I have supplied photographs of heritage sites to North Yorkshire County Council and the Peak District Interpretation Partnership. I also take photographs where needed to illustrate inHeritage interpretation projects.I spent three seasons on a photography residency with the Stonehenge Riverside Project. I am currently working on a photography book of British and Irish prehistoric monuments for Frances Lincoln. This follows previous photography-led books on the archaeology of the Peak District for Halsgrove and Sigma Press. I am also working on a long-term project photographic selected World Heritage Sites.

I am leading on the production of a town-wide interpretation strategy for Wirksworth, a historic market town in Derbyshire, England. The town can trace its origins to at least the Anglo-Saxon period. I will produce the strategy working in partnership with a range of organisations. It is funded by DerwentWISE, an HLF Landscape Partnership, and Wirksworth Town Council.

Working on the European REFIT programme to develop online interpretation related to the landscapes associated with oppida, Europe's earliest towns. Working with archaeologists working in Cotswolds, UK, Bibracte, France and Ulaca, Spain.

Bill was Leverhulme Trust artist in residence at the Deptartment of, University of Sheffield October 2010 to September 2011. He depicted the relationship between workers and their subjects as mediated through tools and how archaeologists create order on the vast subject that is the human past. The residency culminated in a day conference on art in archaeology called Assembling Archaeology, an exhibition and the creation of a triptych for the department lobby called Triangulation.

Manage cultural and natural heritage interpretation projects for the Peak District National Park Authority and Peak District Interpretation Partnership.Project manager of ‘Cultural Trails - Peak Experience’ – award-winning £500,000 cultural and natural heritage interpretation project for visitors to the Peak District National Park. Project completed December 2008.I also wrote the cultural heritage elements. I delivered the following outputs:10 themed guides to countryside locations produced as leaflets and website content,17 self-guided trails created in the form of PDF downloads, mp3 audio trails and a mobile phone tour,9 children’s cartoon activity sheets to accompany self-guided trails,Bluetooth java-enabled searchable wildlife guide and downloadable bird songs,Two webcams at reservoirs,Geologically-themed touchscreen kiosk,16 external and internal interpretive panels on properties across the Peak District,MyPeakExperience – a user-generated content website.

Contracted to deliver a new media interpretation plan for National Nature Reserves in Kent on behalf Natural England. Plan completed March 2009. Followed this by being contracted to implement some of the recommendations including scripting of audio trails, scripting and design of podscroll trails, design of PDF self-guided trail and wildlife spotter guides.

Landscape archaeological survey and excavation of multi-period landscapes in the Peak District to inform management by landowners.

I created multimedia and film soundtracking events comprising live music and DJ scores. I also co-organised a monthly multimedia chillout evening.

I provided the survey back-up to excavations of Romano-British rural settlements at Market Deeping.
