My current role is all about site security. As an L1 security supervisor, stationed at Merritt Accommodations for the Transmountain Expansion Project (TMP), my role is to secure and protect the workforce and work camp facilities of the Spread 5A section of the project. This is a new path and role for me after 14 years’ experience as an Executive Chef and 15 years as a real estate salesman and mortgage broker. I started as an L1 security guard at the TMP and was soon promoted to L1 Supervisor. I manage shifts that run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. My typical duties are as follows;-Regular check-ins with all Security guards via radio or phone.-Responsible for the overall Merritt Camp Access Control and managing the movement and duties of all guards.-Responsible for Access Control, Perimeter Fence line Security and managing all incidents according to the Post Orders.-Daily functions include overseeing, processing and screening of personnel and commercial / regular vehicle units through the Main Gate and Brass Alley. Including the processing of Access Cards for workers staying at the camp.-General oversight of the Access Control areas and perimeter security through CCTV.-Complete report checks and conduct Security Officer performance checks and pass on to the Trans Mountain Security Contract Security Manager.-Coordination with Trans Mountain Contract Security Manager in conjunction with CIVEO Security Manager.-Security occurrence management and escalation to the appropriate representatives and authorities as per Trans Mountain internal policies and Merritt Camp Post Orders.-Coordinating the duties, relief and location changes of Security Officers and providing operations feedback to Trans Mountain Security Manager.-I respond to all access control, VSS and CCTV incidents, and resolve all incidents according to set procedures and in a matter that is in the best interest of Trans Mountain and CIVEO.-I provide coaching and training on security processes and procedures to all Security Officers I manage. -I attend and assist all Security Officers for public inquiries at the main gate and respond to access protest activity.-I am familiar with and have working knowledge of Post Orders, Emergency Contact Information, ensures that information/Memo/Change is being relayed to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.-i ensure End of Shift Reports by Security Officers are completed and provide a Daily Report to Trans Mountain Security Manager. My goal is always to provide calm and dependable leadership,
