I am a cloud services leader with over 25 years of experience building, operating, and automating the management of planet-scale enterprise & consumer services. I have a depth of experience managing distributed engineering teams through rapid, iterative release cycles while maintaining service reliability and product quality.I’ve worn many hats throughout my career, including a variety of team management roles across engineering, program management, business operations, and service engineering. I have also participated in multiple cloud service acquisitions, including technical diligence, talent evaluation, and successful integration into Microsoft. Because of these experiences, I can easily span functional boundaries, manage multi-disciplinary projects, and tackle complex problems. Additionally, there are several core beliefs I have developed through my experiences: • Attitude is everything – it is where relationships start and end and will make or break a team. We cannot change the inevitable; the only thing we can do is bring a positive attitude. Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. Theodore Roosevelt once fired a rancher who stole some neighboring cattle and added them to Roosevelt’s herd. When asked about this, Roosevelt replied, “A man who steals for me will also steal from me.”• As much as I like building things, I like fixing things more. Throw your biggest organizational challenges at me, and I will tackle them. I enjoy driving efficiencies, measuring to improve, and just plain getting things done.• I love mechanical watches.
