As a licensed civil engineer (PE) in Texas and Oklahoma with 20 years of private consulting experience, I have a different perspective on our industry that most software salespeople. I know the struggles and challenges that our customers face, because I was one for a long time. Now at Autodesk, I have the unique opportunity to work with our architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) customers to best utilize our Autodesk software to to get their jobs done better and faster. As a senior associate engineer, I was part of the team working on Segments 2 and 3 of the LBJ Express project. This $2.5B+ project included reconstruction of the main lanes and frontage roads along IH 635; addition of 6 managed lanes (mostly subsurface) along IH 635 from I-35E to US 75 and 4 managed lanes west and east of that stretch; and addition of 6 elevated managed lanes along I-35E from Loop 12 to the I-35E/IH 635 interchange.AMEC Foster Wheeler (now part of Wood) is one of the world’s leading engineering, project management and consultancy companies. During my time on the board, we changed Executive Directors. I was actively involved in the identification, hiring and leadership transition process to the new Executive Director, Cindy Schneible. Our board was responsible for the Dallas Stars Hockey Facility, the APEX aquatic center and the mobile stage that is now used at all City events, just to name a few of our accomplishments.The McKinney Community Development Corporation is an organization with a mission to promote and preserve the quality of life in McKinney. It was established in 1996 when McKinney voters approved a one-half cent sales tax to be used to enhance McKinney's aesthetic, cultural and leisure amenities.The board, along with its Executive Director, is tasked with identifying potential quality of life projects, reviewing grant funding requests and serving as responsible stewards of approximately $8 million tax payer dollars generated annually through the half-cent sales tax. I was the Chairman of the Board of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce for the calendar year 2010. As my year was beginning, I was actively involved in the hiring of a new Chamber president. The president and I helped to make our organization leaner and more efficient. We separated the Chamber's McKinney Living publication into a wholly owned subsidiary, CMSI. We deepened and strengthened our relationships with our community partners. And, we continued to increase our membership numbers, influence, and leadership in the Collin County area.
