Bill has been a significant contributor to the built environment throughout his career in the Valley of the Sun since 1981 and his experiences are varied. After graduating with an Associate’s degree in Architectural Drafting, he grew in his capabilities in commercial architecture and rose to leadership positions in those offices quickly. His architectural experience includes the design of over 300 commercial buildings in various market sectors such as retail, office, medical office, industrial, high-tech industrial and municipal projects in Arizona and throughout the United States.Bill also worked for a well-established design-build commercial contractor from 1995 to 2003 in Tempe, Arizona. Starting as a Sales Associate, Bill grew in his capabilities in commercial estimating and established the in-house conceptual design and drafting department. This provided Bill with another layer of knowledge for success.After doing so, he left to create Bill Clay Design Studio LLC, his commercial architecture firm, and successfully led his clients in major building projects, one of which won the 2009 Real Estate and Development (RED) Award for Best Office Condo Project “The Presidio”, located in Chandler, AZ.Since 2017, Bill has been working at GCON Inc., located in the West Valley. After rising to Preconstruction Manager, he currently leads as GCON’s Preconstruction Design Manager. His experience includes the Building Information Modeling (BIM) / Virtual Design in Construction (VDC). Bill has significant experience as Preconstruction and Design Management for commercial projects in various market sectors. He has played a significant role in leading the efforts to implement the use of REVIT, ACC (BIM360), Revizto and PlanGrid technology both in the Preconstruction and in the Operations/Field phases of the projects.Bill attended Leadership West, a west valley leadership training and civic engagement program, and in May of 2022, graduated with Class XXVIII, best class ever.
