Avoiding the classroom led me to a tour of duty in the Navy - I didn’t want to be left behind while my pals were off at school. I was struggling to answer the question “What are you going to do with your life?” After the Navy I gave school another shot. While studying I took a part-time job at a daily newspaper in Chicago where I was introduced to graphic design and I absolutely loved it. I began to sponge up everything I could about print communication. I consider myself very lucky to have experienced design before the advent of the Mac.I left the paper as the head of their editorial art department to found a Chicago design agency where I got my first taste of entrepreneurship. Later I took a position at Hasbro diving into the toy, game and entertainment space. The work just kept getting better! I found my career passion while working on the storied brands of my childhood: Clue, Risk, Life — all my favorites. Eventually I was assigned to managing the packaging and branding for the Star Wars games and Transformers toys. The work led me to California and brought back memories of San Diego and Navy boot camp. From the start the West Coast has always inspired me and I knew I would eventually live and work here. With a unique background in designing for entertainment brands we proudly call Los Angeles home.
