I currently work in the Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) maintaining equipment within the facility. I install and maintain electronic equipment associated with the facility and services required for aviation navigation to assure a reliable, safe, and smooth flow of air traffic. The job involves work with radar, communications, computers, navigational aids, and electrical/mechanical support for facilities on and off the airport, and within the network of the National Airspace System (NAS).

Coordinate the scheduling of installation and maintenance of equipment on the Tri-State Telecommunications system with field technicians and supervisors. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Alcatel MDR-8000 and MDR-4000s, NT Tadiran, and Harris Constellation microwave radios. This included the day-to-day maintenance and circuit turn-up activities of a staff of 10 technicians who maintain an Alcatel DEX600E, a Nortel DMS 500, a Tellabs Titan 5500 wideband DACs, a Tellabs 532L narrowband DACs, a Sonus VOIP system, and a Lucent ATM switch. Laidoff due to bankruptcy.

Responsible for managing the on time turn-up and maintenance of a high density SONET network. This network consisted of 5 regeneration sites, and 2 terminals containing an Alcatel 3/3 Broadband Digital Cross-Connect Switch, an Alcatel 3/0 Narrowband Digital Cross-Connect Switch, and a WDM Alcatel 2.488 Gbps SONET Transport System with 5 Lucent Smart LGX's. In 2000 the company was sold to SBC and the network was given to Williams Telecommunications. I found another opportunity.

Assigned to provide technical operational support for circuit installations, operation and overall reliability of MCI products and services for two national accounts. This included acting as the single point of contact on customer troubles, network outages, chronic trouble resolution, and project management on complex implementations. Assigned to the construction, installation, and testing of the Lenkurt 36A2 multiplex and associated equipment used in the 231 microwave sites of the Kentucky Emergency Warning System (KEWS). This system linked all of the State Agencies, including the Kentucky State Police, onto one network that was fully redundant.
