Advising startup in the health and fitness space as they build the world's best platform for creating workout plans, logging workouts, and tracking progress on the web, iOS, and Android devices.

Consulted for 1.5 years with Magellan GPS, running their Magellan Echo Series smart sports watch partnerships. He was responsible for relationships with sports and fitness partners including Runkeeper, Under Armour, Strava, Wahoo Fitness, AllTrails, Golf Pad, and others. Bill identified potential partners, then worked with them to integrate Echo Series support, address iOS and Android technical issues, launch and co-market, and continually improve joint product offerings. Bill's work enabled tens of millions of potential new customers for Magellan Echo Series products. Example: Bill managed partnership negotiations, technical and business integration, product launch, and subsequent promotions with Runkeeper, bringing more than 41 Million potential new customers to Magellan via that partnership alone.

Product managed a GitHub-hosted agile team to deliver a clean, unified API with an elegant common object model to client. Responsible for engineering and product issue creation, Kanban backlog management, and week-to-week team deliverables to complete the project on time. Surveyed client's vertical technology landscape, analyzing existing APIs and platforms to distill key objects and use case scenarios to build a 109-page Apiary blueprint including preface/front matter, a catalog of scenarios in Gherkin/Cucumber, an end-to-end example tutorial with source code, and a dynamically-generated API reference.

Ran agile Runkeeper Platform team scaling the APIs powering Runkeeper beyond 25M registered users. Managed API, infrastructure, UX, and business development aspects of Runkeeper's platform including Health Graph API and partner integrations.Evangelized Runkeeper's platform from its infancy to 150 featured and more than 2,000 total partners. Fed third party developers' experience and requests back into our team to continually improve the platform so our partners could be even more successful.

Evangelized payments technologies and drove adoption of the PayPal X Platform by writing technical articles and blog posts for eBay's X.commerce DevZone, including contributions to the O'Reilly "Building eCommerce Applications"​ book. In partnership with O'Reilly Media.

Drove the adoption of DRSI’s innovative approach to finding meaning inherent in human language. Managed cross-company team implementing product performance and quality metrics. Created and delivered multi-day partner technical training on Digital Reasoning technologies. Developed specifications with government and industry partners. Wrote public and customer facing documentation on key components of Digital Reasoning solutions. Helped launch, manage, and write first DRSI corporate blog. Responsible for market definition, customer needs assessment, and evangelism of Digital Reasoning products and developer tools.

Managed a distributed team of engineers supporting and evangelizing Nokia Developer Platforms to ISVs, network operators, third party device manufacturers, and independent software developers. Empowered partners to design, create, and deploy successful C++, Java, and script based applications by developing and delivering technical sessions at key developer and decision maker events while orchestrating Nokia Developer Platforms technical articles and demo coverage worldwide.

Created and delivered keynotes, technical sessions, and code level Hands On Labs. Published widely on Sun technologies and initiatives. Created and maintained the Java ME Archive (see http://billday.com/javame for more) to drive adoption of that key Sun platform. Responsible for communicating Sun’s wireless, grid computing, and security strategies to developers, network operators, and manufacturers worldwide.

Designed and implemented next generation Java interfaces for the MediaBase streaming media server product (now owned by Kasenna). Set corporate strategy as a member of the SGI Java business team. Designed and executed test suites for SGI's version of the Java Media Framework and the Cosmo Code Java IDE (one of the "Top Ten Software Products of 1996" according to IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications magazine).

Tuned performance of C simulation code for customer delivery. Integrated code into Real-Time high performance computing parallel application benchmarks.

Selected as one of fifteen students worldwide to participate in the summer high performance computing program in Edinburgh, Scotland. Ported EM3D Fortran geophysics code to use taskfarming parallelism with the MPI message passing system. Designed application for heterogeneous Unix environment including Sun workstation clusters and a Cray T3D.

Created Compact Torus Computerized Tomography analysis routines for the Davis Diverted Torus fusion research project. Programmed simulations to determine optimum image reconstruction algorithms.
