Provide HR consulting advice and services for clients on a retained, fixed-fee project, or hourly basis. Provide expert witness testimony. As an HR subject matter expert, provide advice and assistance on California employment law compliance requirements for clients. Provide outsourced leave of absence management services for clients. My HR services also include COBRA administration, workers’ compensation, HIPAA compliance, health and safety programs, conflict resolution services, workplace investigations, affirmative action programs, job classification studies, and performance management programs. I conduct confidential client HR audits and provide one-on-one coaching and counseling services.

Also teach a two-part California Core HR course twice a year designed for individuals who seek knowledge of California's unique employment law requirements. Periodically, present seminars and workshops on topical HR subjects. Over 7 years' experience teaching onsite and online California HR certification preparation courses. Past experience includes teaching online and onsite PHR/SPHR certification preparation courses for SHRM.

Responsible for certification activities throughout California as a nationally certified senior HR professional (SPHR) and serving as the State Certification Director on the Califonria State Council of SHRM. During the 2006-2007 period, involved in a key leadership role bringing a state-level HRCI-sponsored certification program to California. Initially, served as a Leader on the State Council's Proposal and Formation Committee; later, as a member of the HRCI Organization and Development Task Force; and still later, as the Project Manager for the development of the initial California Learning System prepared for and published by SHRM.

Taught HR subjects including "Management of Human Resources", "Interviewing,and Selecting New Employees"; and "Employment Law" courses to Extension students. Additionally, conducted HR workshops sponsored by U.C. Berkeley Worldwide Programs to international executives from Japan, Korea, and New Zealand.

Provided generalist HR consulting support and services for clients. Developed a full-service HR function for the San Jose facilities of an international telecommunications firm. Conducted HR legal compliance audits throughout the U.S. for venture capital firms.

Responsible for full-service HR support for three California environmental laboratories (300 employees). Later, assumed company-wide responsibilities for staffing and employee relations.

Initially, held positions as Senior Employee Relations Specialist/Recruiter, Central Personnel; HR Supervisor, Refinery and Chemical Division; and, Project Manager for an International Labor Study. From 1981 to 1986, responsible for Advanced Technology's division-wide HR functions. Managed a 8-person HR staff. Responsible for a 250K annual HR budget. Opened and managed a branch HR office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Served as the division representative with the U.S. Department of Energy on HR matters.
