Design & deployment of Cisco solutions including ASA/FirePower, Catalyst switching, Nexus switching, wireless, and Meraki.

In this position, I conduct technical interviews with customers to determine their provisioning requirements for voice (PRI/CAS, analog), data (IP addressing, ACLs, routing, CoS), and secure Internet access (ACLs, NAT) over MPLS VPNs. Once the requirements have been documented and approved, I place the appropriate orders with the NOC.I have also served as a technical lead for a pilot Technical Assistance Center project.Other responsiblities include providing training and support, as required.

I began as a consultant asked to design a network which would support the business requirements for a small calibration lab. The requirements included a LAN, Active Directory, intranet, support for custom applications, and security. I implemented the design making use of both Microsoft and Linux servers in order to maximize performance and minimize cost.I was then hired to manage/maintain the network and to also utilize my previous experience to develop and implement a Quality Management System. The goal of the system was to become compliant with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, as the company begins some light manufacturing duties.My last tasks included developing alternate storage methods for some of the units that we calibrate/test. The intention was to extend the usable life of the products as legacy media (floppy disk, IDE hard drives) becomes harder to find.

I started part-time as a consultant for ZettaView, as this product was originally owned and developed by GN Nettest/NetTest and I had a significant amount of experience in the manufacturing, testing, and application of the system. I transferred the product from Utica to the new office in Chicago and set up/configured their testing lab. I began working full time using the product to audit customer networks and report on the results.I also supported the engineering team in France and acted as an interface between the French engineer and the Chicago home office. I provided support in the configuration/operation of the lab in France and aided in reporting field issues so that they could be addressed by software engineering.Finally, I assisted in the testing of the product using a small routing/switching lab operated out of my home office. This lab helped duplicate customer issues for troubleshooting purposes and to verify fixes implemented by R&D.

In this position, I was responsible for interfacing between R&D in Utica and the manufacturing facility in Japan for OTDR modules in the CMA5000 product line. This required involvement early in the product development/design cycle where processes, procedures, and any supporting test fixtures were created. Once the product reached full production, support was limited to communicating design changes or researching problems that arose in manufacturing or the field.

In this position, I was responsible for developing and executing test plans for the design verification of the Fastnet/ZettaE2E network monitoring device for LAN/WAN environments. This included creating various router configurations for Cisco 7200 series routers (frame-relay, point-to-point, Ethernet, and channelized T1/E1), configuring SmartBits and Ixia traffic generators, and comparing the statistical data provided with the results of the product.Other responsibilities included providing both phone and on-site technical support to customers. Manufacturing & engineering support was also provided on an as-needed basis.
