SQA Engineering

Performing SQA Engineering activities on the GAITS project which supports Project Management definition, coordination and progress tracking. GAITS will support multiple projects to rapidly produce innovative SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests that will assist the public's safe return to normal activities. Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) is a fast-track technology development program that Leverages the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Point-of-Care Technology Research Network. RADx will support novel solutions that build the U.S. capacity for SARS-CoV-2 testing up to 100-fold above what is achievable with standard approaches. Responsibilities include all aspects of SQA Engineering. Scrum, Jira, web testing, plan and case development, validation/verification, defect management, debugging, reporting and risk management. Maven, Selenium, Java experience.

Successfully completed QA processes on software, firmware and hardware components of an in-home safety and emergency response system (NOMI). Develop and execute test cases and track test results using Jira. Jira Administrator for this project. Testing of AWS website across various browsers, Android phone app, firmware on sensor devices, firmware and phone app upgrade processes, hardware accuracy and sustainability, voice and sound recognition and response, and tiers of alert notifications. Daily scrum calls with team.

Execute QA processes (manual and automated) on software, firmware and hardware components of an RF Real Time Location System (RTLS) used in 40 hospitals across the US for locating medical equipment, hospital staff and patients. Recommend, design, build and establish QA structures, processes and tools supporting the following areas: test cases and plans, test automation, configuration management, test environments, software build and release, standardize Engineering/QA procedures, metrics reporting for coverage and quality assessment.Test Automation and QA Tools Engineer:Design, build, proof and execute manual and automated (SILKtest) test suites and plans for RTLS product and various QA testing tools (VS VB.NET, VB 6, MS SQL, MySQL) as follows: Eventor, DBMonitor, MySQL to MSSQL data conversion, HL7 Message Generator for ADT & SIU message testing, PING flood, many others. Design, develop, test and deliver to Support group, all product release upgrades and installation packages. Write functional specifications for RTLS upgrades and CoverageDB apps, participate in weekly engineering meetings. Assist Support and Development with debugging and network issues when necessary. Create and deliver summary defect reports and coverage/quality test metrics to VP of Engineering as needed and at release milestones.

SQA Team Co-Lead: the SGS v3.0 firewall product. 15 QA Engineers. Heavy Product Functional Requirement, functional and design spec analysis. Participate in PFR, design and functional spec reviews with product managers, development engineers, and other stakeholders to contribute to product design, testability, and implementation. Test specification and test case development. Manual testing, defect and result reporting, risk mitigation. Conducted 1-on-1 reviews and evaluations of team’s test specifications, test cases and automation scripts. Weekly reporting to Sr. Management. Automation Team Lead: manage the development of a firewall test harness written in Java. Direction of four QA Engineers to automate the testing of the SGS firewall appliance. SESA SAM Project Lead: successfully directed 5 QA engineers through the testing phases of a firewall enterprise management system. Participate in product design & functional spec reviews with product managers, development engineers to contribute to product design and implementation. SDLC Process Trainer/Coach: wrote Test Case Writing Workshop course material & conducted formal 3-day training for SQA Engineers across the US. Write student evaluations.Automation Project Lead: design, code & execute automated test scripts for Symantec Enterprise Firewall (v8.0) using SILKtest.

Toolbook and heavy Windows API usage. My designs and Win API research programming efforts led to one of the finest e-learning simulation develop tools in the industry (Firefly, CBT authoring system). Principle Software Engineer: Design, code, test & deliver several CBT simulations delivering several million dollars of revenue. Design, code, test and deliver internal Instructional Designer tools & utilities to automate CBT simulation creation. Designed and coded internal tools to increase programmer productivity and code reliability which drastically reduced QA cycle times. All projects were written in Toolbook 5.0, VB 6 and windows APIs. Project Lead/Senior Software Engineer: SkillVantage Project - Lead four developers and one QA person for the enhancements to a course management system. Design, code and unit test major portions of this system. (Access, windows APIs). Code, test and implement updates to defect tracking and reporting system (BUGBASE).Senior Software Engineer: EduTrack Project – Sole designer, coder and tester on a courseware management system (Access, windows kernel & user APIs). Design, code, test and implement and maintain a defect tracking and reporting system (BUGBASE) which was used for this project. Design, code and test two windows-based CD-ROM titles (Toolbook, windows APIs). Commercially available in stores. Total Health and Mind & Dare to Repair. Became top Toolbook technical consultant. Agility Project – course authoring system. Successfully extracted and built runtime libraries for distribution.

As a certified 3COM Network Engineer, led teams of 15 Network Engineers in the installation, maintenance, upgrade and relocation of more than 60 networks in the US and Canada during a 4-year period. As AIG’s lead LAN technical consultant, I designed and maintained 4 server models with Valinor, Inc to deliver plug and play network servers to AIG office locations. These standard network architectures were subsequently rolled out to Europe. 3Com 3Wizard Certification - top consultant for LAN problem debugging, traveling to fix emergencies. Publications: LAN Administrator's Startup Guide and Operations manual and Network User's Guide manual.3Com Network Admin: LAN Administrator of the first two 3Com servers to exist in the world. Systems Engineer: Successfully designed, developed and implemented a LAN-based Configuration Management System for developers. PVCS, networked batch compilers & linkers for 5 programming languages.Systems Engineer: Successfully designed, developed and implemented a mainframe Configuration Management System for mainframe developers. (CLIST, ISPF Dialog Mgmt. Services, JCL generation and submission, Panvalet)Project Manager: Inland Marine/Builders' Risk systems. Software Engineer: Developed & tested hardware test programs in assembler macro language. Tested software on Data General Nova while hardware components were attached. Successfully developed & tested an I/O driver employed by all programs running on an HP9836S tabletop. I/O driver written in Pascal, enabled 16-bit word I/O to/from black box memory board via GPIO interface card. Heavy analysis of HP9836S O/S and kernel assembler code (specifically hand-shake data transmission – bus available/busy). Developed a memory board test program in Pascal. Project was for the NSA. Security clearance: SECRETLead Programmer: (2 YEAR PROJECT) Successfully designed, coded and implemented several IMS financial management subsystems. Provided leadership & direction for four programmers in system requirements and IMS DC technology. Attained title of Section Consultant for on-line processing. (IMS DC, IMS DB, COBOL)Project Lead/Analyst/Programmer: Successful modifications to company's Classified Document Accountability System. Responsible for all project tasks from defining user requirements to implementation. (IMS-DC, VSAM)Project Lead/Analyst: Design of Remote Report Request System. Interfaced with IBM's PMS IV system. On-line application running under TSO. Data transmission by full screen support. Lead Programmer: Enhancements to a data transfer system. The system transferred budget data from an IMS database to a sequential tape file. Discovered a better method than what was originally specified by project lead and author of system. Changed run frequency from 20/month to 1/month. Specs asked for a reduction to 8/month.

Successfully coded, modified and tested several COBOL programs in the Reference subsystem of the Massachusetts Medicare/Medicaid Information System. Rewarded for exceptional structured coding techniques, accuracy and speed. Discovered bugs in system level collating sequence, wrote test programs to exhibit issue to Sr. management. This affected all programs in the system but was caught in time to fix before released.
