As it turns out, the editor of the self-published trade journal had already garnered a reputation for mis-quoting people in order to make more sensational reading, and the whole affair was quickly forgotten. That Bill offered to take responsibility for a subordinate's initiative in voicing an opinion on behalf of the company, rather than distancing himself from the embarassment that it created, shows a very high level of personal dedication to the integrity of his subordinates, and raised my respect for him to an even higher level."
