Bill Hoffman leads Bill Hoffman & Associates, LLC which is a Tampa-based consulting firm with national-level independent sector expertise in these areas: > Educational engagement strategies > Nonprofit leadership transitions > Organizational and board development.Bill is a prolific author and frequent presenter on these and other related topics. Bill has senior-level nonprofit management experience in education, having been the president of one of the nation’s top K-12 education foundations, functioning as interim CEO for prominent national and state education and philanthropic associations, as well as leading national, regional and state boards of directors. He has served as a consultant to various groups and individual non-profits in the education field including the Florida Philanthropic Network, Florida College Access Network, SRI International, the National Math and Science Initiative, and the Consortium of Education Foundations as well as others. His work has been primarily in K-12 education, especially college and career readiness and success, standards reform, and STEM fields. Bill has written and spoken extensively for GuideStar, the New York Times Op/Ed, SEEN Magazine, Opportunity Knocks, the National School Foundations Association, the Public Education Network, the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, the Mid-Atlantic Consortium of Education Foundations, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, and the New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership. He has developed nationally innovative programming for nonprofit executives, including the Certified Education Foundation Leader program for K-12 education foundation executive directors. This program is being delivered by one of the nation’s largest non-profit universities and rolled-out via the industry’s largest trade association. He is also an Adjunct Professor at National University, teaching Non-profit Leadership and Board Development.

While serving as Chair of the Certification Steering Committee for the National School Foundation Association created the Certified Education Foundation Leader (CEFL) program at National University. Currently teaching two courses as adjunct in that certification tract: Organization Planning & Leadership and Board Development.

Served as Interim President & CEO during national search for next FPN leader. Led this statewide membership network through early challenges of COVID-19 and transition to remote operations. In support of member interests, increased advocacy and policy initiatives in civic engagement, education, and social justice. Worked with board and staff to transform operations to 100% virtual (subleasing offices) and outsourcing critical membership, financial, and communications functions. In the process,. substantially reduced overhead expenses and positioned staff responsibilities to be more externally focused.

Served as interim leader on the departure of long term President/CEO during search for new leader. Worked with board and staff to close out fiscal year and begin new one. Led organization through annual state-wide summit, completion of grants (including reconciliations and reporting), and spin off of non-profit which was incubated by FPN. Completed interim role with hire of new President/CEO.

Transitioned from Incoming Board Chair to Interim Executive Director upon departure of founding executive director. Used the interim role to further develop organization's infrastructure, policies, and codify work. Took organization through an entire annual cycle of fiscal year close-out, budget development, sponsorship recruitment, national conference and various regional and virtual conferences. During this time lead the development of coursework which is now being taught at National University and results in Certified Education Foundation Leaders.

Chief executive responsible for Foundation in support of public education. Oversight of $5M - $6.5M per annum budget. Over 95% of revenues are raised each year from over 1,000 sources in the community in order to fund initiatives of the Foundation. Responsible for relationship building in community, major donors, board development, staff management, assisting board with strategic planning, and financial health of the organization.

Served in progressively more responsible position (Director until 1990, VP until 1999, then Senior VP) for $65M international non-profit education and juvenile justice organization with oversight of strategic planning and administrative functions. These included Volunteer Board member development (700+ members), Board Strategic Planning, New Contract (funding) Development, Contract Negotiation, Human Resources, and Risk Management.
