I practice law in the Birmingham office of Jones Walker LLP, where I have a national practice advising healthcare providers and other healthcare enterprises, particularly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate finance law, regulatory compliance and corporate governance matters. I have also represented clients in the financial services industry and other industries. My current clients include physicians, hospitals, surgery centers and other ambulatory providers, labs and healthcare consultants. In addition, I am a certified mediator for the American Health Lawyers Association Dispute Resolution Service and serve as a hearing officer for medical staff peer review hearings. Before joining Jones Walker, I served as a practice group leader at two other Birmingham law firms and as general counsel of one of the nation's largest publicly traded healthcare services companies. I speak and write on a national basis in the areas of healthcare law, corporate and securities law, and professional responsibility. I have held active leadership positions in the American Bar Association's Health Law Section and the American Health Law Association for several years, serving in 2015-16 as Chair of the ABA Health Law Section and currently serving as a member of the ABA House of Delegates, as Editor-in-Chief of AHLA's Federal Healthcare Laws & Regulations and as a member of AHLA's Dispute Resolution Service Council. I also served from 2011-2014 as Chair of AHLA's Business Law and Governance Practice Group.
