The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board www.sasb.org envisions a world where a shared understanding of corporate sustainability performance allows companies and investors to make informed decisions that drive value and improve sustainability outcomes. The mission of SASB is to develop and disseminate sustainability accounting standards that help public corporations disclose material, decision-useful information to investors through standard SEC reporting frameworks such as the 10-K. That mission is accomplished through a rigorous process that includes evidence-based research and broad, balanced stakeholder participation.

Founding Group Vice President, Environment Group, Winrock International, 2006-2014. Responsible for strategic planning, program implementation, and portfolio growth. Management of a focused, multidisciplinary, transboundary team with big results and global reach applying sound science and market principles to economic productivity, social equity and restorative natural resource utilization. Units led include Clean Energy; Forestry & Natural Resource Management; Ecosystem Services; Environmental Resources Trust; and the American Carbon Registry (now with 100 million tons CO2e registered as voluntary and compliance emissions reductions). In the last five years added more than $238 million to the portfolio (of which approximately 40% in subawards, grants, subcontracts), quadrupled return on investment (ROI) rates to the highest level in institution, with institution’s highest billing rates and net margins. Regular impact and operational reporting to Board and leveraging co-funders.

Founding Managing Director, Ecosystem Services, Winrock International. 2002-2006. Established and led a group devoted to eco-asset quantification, measurement, monitoring, valuation, and natural resource survey and analysis for climate change/carbon sequestration projects, land use management, infrastructure improvement, and biodiversity/habitat conservation programs. Introduced spatial analysis (geographic information systems and remote sensing) into Winrock’s work. Created and provided leadership to a world-renowned high-performance team of masters and PhD scientists and technicians (including Nobel co-laureates from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) who developed now standard methodologies and protocols for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+). Led the team that relaunched the pioneering Greenhouse Gas Registry as the American Carbon Registry – now one of only two approved Offset Project Registries for the state of California compliance program.

Founding Director, Planning & Strategic Initiatives, Winrock International. 1999-2006. Established, staffed and led an internal incubator developing and testing new crosscutting ideas and approaches to natural resource management, productivity, and equity in the service of poor and disadvantaged people. Supported the CEO and the rest of the senior management team in Winrock’s global strategic planning annual cycles. Created and grew a $7 million Innovation Investment Program (internal grants, Innovation Program Officers, conceptualizing and launching market initiatives including smallholder irrigation, information and communications technologies for international development, water services, bioenergy, carbon markets). Led the team that created the John D. Rockefeller 3rd Scholars Program for planning and research grants to transboundary multidisciplinary teams in South and Southeast Asia on pressing problems in environment and development. Established strategic partnerships including representing Winrock as a founding member of NetHope and being point person for negotiating and managing the amalgamation of the Environmental Resources Trust into Winrock. Secured four full-time Cisco employees via the Cisco Foundation to imbed at Winrock for a year to modernize its knowledge management, project management information systems, networking and connectivity, and internal IT management. During this period, also incubated and served as Managing Director for two implementing units: Clean Energy and Ecosystem Services.

Managing Director, Clean Energy, Winrock International. 2003-2005. Led the team responsible for renewable energy and energy efficiency integration into socially and economically productive applications, with international programs focused on commercialization, policy, financing, institutional mechanisms, capacity building and technical collaboration. Emphasized public-private partnerships such as the Alliance for Mindanao Off-Grid Renewable Energy Program - principal partners included USAID, Philippines Department of Energy, SunPower Corporation and numerous foundations, private companies, community based organizations) for rural electrification of villages, schools, distance education, water, sanitation and hygiene.

Founding Country Office Director, Winrock International Brazil. 1996-1999. Established Winrock’s Brazil office and was responsible for setting program priorities, securing leveraging funding and generating new initiatives in the country with specific emphasis on private sector involvement in provision of clean energy services such as enabling telephony, water pumping and lighting for schools, health clinics and community centers in the rural Northeast and Amazonia.

Program Officer, Renewable Energy and the Environment Program, Winrock International. 1994-1996. Provided technical assistance and management advisory services to World Bank, International Finance Corporation, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of Energy National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and U.S. Export Council for Renewable Energy.

Director, International Business Development Siemens Solar Industries. 1989-1994. Responsible for Government and Industry Affairs: worked with the senior team to successfully secure research and project finance from U.S., German, and Japanese governments. Principal staffing of post-acquisition integration team. Spokesperson for television, radio and print media.

Responsible as a senior advisor to the President of a 550-person high technology manufacturing and marketing firm. Worked closely with the President and senior team on planning, competitor analysis, and business development for world's largest photovoltaic manufacturing company. Prior position as Manager, Distributor Marketing with profit and loss responsibility for regional distributor sales organization covering U.S. and Canada. Developed and maintained company's top customers in the region.
