One of my most prominent roles is chairman of the largest Policy Group in Cheshire East and from working with the portfolio holder I have set up waste, bereavement and transport; the total over five years is £300m turnover.Experience of management/leadership of people in non-executive roles: I have a record of working well with others of different ages and backgrounds. More recently, I have taken on the role of Peer Mentor whereby I offer advice and guidance regarding regulation and policy, helping councils to improve its learning and development.Experience of being accountable to service users and citizens through public forums as well as regulatory process: As a councillor I have been fortunate enough to spend some time working with staff on ‘day work’ schedules, accompanying the remote workforce on duty. It is this hands-on experience that allows me to communicate with staff and citizens alike and get support on difficult decisions. As a person in a leadership role, I can take on board new suggestions and listen to staff from all levels, choosing to act on good decisions. In order to better my skillset to help others I have also completed a number of additional qualifications for personal development including level 2 in ‘understanding health improvement’ and e-exams on Education and Fire Service.
