KEY ACHIEVEMENTS• Went from an environment where the ITS group would determine the IT roadmap of the company, to an environment where the key technical business drivers of the company drive the IT roadmap.• Expanded the influence of the IT team to go beyond corporate IT, to being involved with the design and development of operational software and services related to Memjet’s suite of printing products. This was inline with my goal of making the IT department provide a level of service delivery that benefits the core business of the company.• Introduced operational efficiencies to reduce the ITS department overheads. Managed all aspects of the infrastructure, network and systems operations in the APAC region (based in Sydney), including improvement projects, maintenance, upgrades, support and service management. Ran the Asia Network Operations Centre, managed vendor, service provider and internal business unit relationships, and acted as pre-sales consultant for select clients.

Part of a small team of key staff involved in expanding the business, I started about 1 – 1.5 years after the company was established. My initial role was to design and develop the network management software which interfaced with the satellite modems but quickly grew to encompass the design and development of the Operational Support Subsystem.

I held two positions at NEC.The first position was for the CSD Department of NEC which was responsible for the development of a proprietary VSAT system to provide access to phone, TV and data services via satellite to remote communities. The project was cancelled by our parent company in Japan as the business model was not deemed profitable.
