The ASU foundation provided the seed money and raised a venture pool to support the commercialization efforts. The raised funds came from the private sector and financial institutions, other affiliated Venture Capital partners joined in funding start-up companies and joint ventures emerging from the University’s technology.

Founded the company to commercialize two desert crops. The first was guayule which is a desert plant contains natural rubber. During WWII Goodyear harvested this desert plant to produce tires when cut off from their rubber supply in Malaysia and Indonesia. The second desert plant was jojoba. The seeds of this plant contain a oil that is used in cosmetics and shampoos. Jojoba isbeen a profitable commericial crop today and recently a commericial guayule plant was built in Arizona.Subsequently I founded AR&D Corporation to commercialize other technologies within Arizona State University and within the State of Arizona through a venture fund I raised.

Ploeger-Hamm, Inc.of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois provided financial planning services for its clients and did some boutique venture capital deals. Transferred and started the Arizona branch of their operations in the Phoenix area in 1978.
