Recently elected Councilman, Board of Health Liaison, and State Certified Animal Control Officer (ACO). As an ACO, the very core of my work is deeply rooted in the care and welfare of animals, public safety, and community service. I rescue both domestic and wild animals who may be injured or in dangerous situations, as well as patrol assigned areas, and function as a first responder to all animal emergencies. Being vegan for the animals, I bring a deep-seated compassion to the animals I save and the neighborhoods I serve… making me an essential member of the community. As an Animal Protection Professional – I believe that animals have value beyond economic measurement; and are entitled to legal, moral, and ethical consideration and protection. I understand that an animal subjected to cruelty or neglect is a crime victim like no other. She is a living being who requires care and treatment, but at the same time, she’s living evidence of a crime whose condition must be documented and handled in a way that does not jeopardize the case against her alleged abuser. She is a crime victim entitled to certain protections and sentencing considerations, while still being the property of her abuser - who may also retain a constitutionally protected ownership interest. As a compassionate vegan and fully engaged citizen, I champion the following Five Freedoms which affirms every living being's right to humane treatment.1. Freedom from hunger or thirst by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigor.2. Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment4. Freedom to express normal behavior by providing sufficient space, proper facilities, and company of the animal's own kind.5. Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment that avoid mental suffering.I believe advocating for the health and welfare of animals in our care would provide potential adopters with the best possible insight into these animals’ personalities – which would ultimately lead to these special animals being successfully placed into caring and loving forever homes they so richly deserve.I can be reached at theveganaco@gmail.com or you can follow me on Instagram @the.vegan.aco
