Dr. Marinelli received his Sc.B. with Honors in Chemistry in 1977 from Brown University. He received his M.S. (1979) and Ph.D. (1981) degrees in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Since joining PSI in 1983, Dr. Marinelli has been involved as a scientist and program manager in a diverse range of technical areas. He has made numerous contributions in the fields of chemical kinetics (chemical lasers, atmospheric chemistry, and air breathing propulsion), gas-surface interactions (atomic oxygen energy accommodation, shuttle glow phenomenon, plasma processing), space physics (advanced solar cells for space power, inflatable optics), and advanced diagnostics (high power lasers, hypersonic flow visualization, metastable reactive species, hyperspectral terrain and chemical imaging, LIDAR transmitter and receiver technology, electroactive polymers). These efforts are described in numerous publications and technical reports. In 2006 he was named Executive Vice President for Defense Systems, overseeing a diverse range of activities in the areas of remote CBRNE sensing, advanced structural composites, nanoscale, and energetic materials development, image and sonar signal processing, and national missile defense activities as well as advanced battery development and energy related activities.In 2018 he became Chief Operating Officer for the company, was named to the Board of Directors in 2021, and in 2022 assumed the title of President and Chief Executive Officer,
