Bill McGowin practices general litigation with recent emphasis on life sciences and, in particular, the defense of pharmaceutical companies sued in product liability litigation. He has tried over 60 jury trials to completion, ranging from trials lasting less than one week to several weeks, receiving defense verdicts in over 95 percent of cases tried to a jury. Bill has represented multi-national pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in litigation across the country and in Europe. Bill has been a national team member for drug safety defending pharmaceutical companies in multi-district litigation throughout the United States and Europe. His other areas of practice include medical malpractice defense, product liability litigation, transportation litigation, construction litigation and commercial litigation. Bill is listed in Best Lawyers of America® and Alabama Super Lawyers, and is Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent Rated. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and is a previous board member of the Alabama Defense Lawyer’s Association. Bill has also been a faculty member of the Alabama Defense Lawyer’s Trial Academy numerous times and was a member of the faculty of the 2016 IADC Trial Academy at Stanford University
