CurrentBill’s quest to help grow the impact of businesses and organizations began in 1994 when he brought years of big agency and big brand experience to the table in co-founding Hanon McKendry – a nationally-recognized advertising agency that had dedicated up to 50% of its efforts annually to working with nonprofits.Since then, he and his teams have created and implemented branding efforts for a diverse mix of regional, national and international nonprofit and corporate clients, resulting in over 1,500+ award-winning programs. Corporate clients of Bill’s have included: Target Stores, Rubbermaid, Owens Corning and Harper Collins. Nonprofit clients have included: He Gets Us, illumiNations, The Chosen, ECFA, Young Life and World Vision.In 2015, JDA Worldwide acquired Hanon McKendry and Bill served as Vice Chairman + Chief Creative Officer overseeing all creative efforts in the firm’s six offices (Atlanta | Colorado Springs | Grand Rapids | Indianapolis | Traverse City | St. Simons Island).Seeing a growing need in the idea generation space, Bill launched BrandHaven (formerly HAVEN | a creative hub) as part of JDA and in 2018 elected to spin it off as an independent specialty shop. In 2021, Bill took on Jason Vanderground as his partner and he was named President of the fast-growing firm. This move was building on a 25 year relationship between Bill and Jason that started with Jason being employed by Hanon McKendry. BrandHaven is now a one-stop destination for strategic and creative ideas as well as campaign management where a large network of agencies, alliances and freelance talent are curated, custom-matched, blended and uniquely managed for specific client needs and challenges.Bill started his career in Denver, Colorado working for Tracy-Locke/BBDO and he cut his teeth on national brands such as American Express, Dodge, Kohler, and Taco Bell. He has marketing and advertising degrees from the University of Denver and he lives/offices in Grand Haven, Michigan.
