Appointed by the new Chief Designer to lead Services and User Interface Design to support the newly integrated business with the aim of creating an aligned and unified ‘one’ Nokia user experience, across three different OS platforms, multiple service offerings and a large product portfolio. Following the experience of being part of a successful and focussed leadership team at Nokia Multimedia, left Nokia in 2009 to take on a more entrepreneurial role as a design and business consultant at Viadynamics.

Appointed to the management board of Nokia’s newly formed business group Nokia Multimedia, as VP of Design, responsible for creating the ‘Nseries’ product and services brand and leading the design team responsible for creating the product and user experience that enabled the business to grow from €600m to €10bn, in just four years. From the launch of the N70 to the market defining N95 to the integration of music, maps and media services.Following a change of CEO in 2006 the success of Nokia Multimedia was absorbed back into an integrated Nokia Corporation

Joining Nokia, having been recruited by the the Chief Designer to grow the design centre in the UK from a small product design led team into a significant multidisciplinary design group of design, research and engineering specialists, delivering many of Nokia’s major products success during this period. While also in parallel setting up satellite design offices in Japan and Denmark to complete the established Nokia Design Group in Finland and USA.

Joining the newly formed product design practice at Fitch, a successful retail design, communications and branding consultancy in London, was promoted to Senior Designer and Associate Director with the practise. In 1989 following Fitch's acquisition of the highly regarded US design business RichardsonSmith began working on global design programs with international clients including BT, Compaq, Electrolux, Reebok and Thermos. Subsequently becoming Director and Senior Consultant for the product and brand practices, joined the management board in 1992 to help restructure and refocus the business. Leaving Fitch in 1998 to take on a more strategic design role with Nokia.

Board member of the DBA, the Design Industry trade body with a special interest in developing the strategy for a cross design industry platform – ‘Design Unity’. Bringing together the DBA, Chartered Society of Designers, Royal Society of the Arts, British Design & Art Direction and Design Council in an attempt to create a unified voice to promote design as a strategic value driver for the UK economy.

Graduating with a degree in Design joined Philips as a Product Designer working within Philips Corporate Design on various white goods and lighting projects, before joining the TV group working across the then portfolio of products including the Philips, Pye and other 3rd party brands.
