After a brief stint being part of a startup, I worked as a project manager for IT initiatives in local County government and was responsible for building the first email system, the first LANs and interconnecting 60 remote locations. When I left, the county network comprised almost 3,000 nodes across 1,000 square miles. Since 1992, I have been self-employed and have constantly worked to reinvent the business. Starting as a vertical market integrator, I transitioned to provide local IT support and then morphed into managed IT services for small to medium local businesses. Somewhere along the way, I discovered a passion for robotics and began teaching students STEM and robotics. I also founded Tampa Hackerspace, a local non-profit makerspace and built it into one of the largest maker spaces in the Southeast.In 2015, I dove into the world of Aerospace as part of a Team Miles, now a four-time winner of the NASA CubeQuest Challenge and one of three teams qualified to fly a satellite on the upcoming NASA Artemis rocket. From that challenge, the company Miles Space was born. I contracted there for about two years developing communications technology using Golang, Jupyter Notebooks, and other tools.I currently provide freelance consulting and technology development services across a range of industries focusing on rapid prototyping, IoT, and core business systems. I also continue to serve as President of Inspiration Labs (the non-profit which operates Tampa Hackerspace) and teach both adult and STEM classes to members and guests.
