I look for opportunities to serve on the board of directors or to take on specific project assignments in order to help companies in transition or at an inflection point in their growth by using my leadership skills. Because so many people have helped me during my career, I also have a strong interest in voluntary service to nonprofit organizations to “pay it forward”, with an emphasis in helping unemployed or underemployed people.I am an experienced business executive who operates with a strong results orientation, seeks different perspectives, solves problems effectively and is supportive of the people I work with. I have honed these traits over a varied career in executive and financial management as a former CEO, CFO and public company director. My experience is in a variety of financial, real estate and hospitality companies that include Arthur Andersen & Co., Omni Hotels, Hospitality Properties Trust and Sonesta Hotels. Supportive means aligning myself with the vision of the business owner and creating the strategies to realize that vision. My strong results orientation demands my focus on those few matters that really make a difference in attaining goals. I believe in keeping goals that are few, that are simply understood and that are measured.Considering different perspectives leads me to more informed and better decision making. Such decisions are more reasoned because they are shaped by different perspectives. Importantly, the collaborative process of seeking different perspectives leads to early acceptance of the ultimate decisions. My strength in problem solving comes from my ability to decompose problems into their basic components, to identify the essential elements requiring resolution, to consider all the relevant data and perspectives and to design the best solution. If my leadership principles and my focus on results resonate with you, please email me at wjsheehan3@gmail.com for further discussion or to arrange a phone call.
