He has worked for aerospace, government, academia, and founded and ran the cloud computing company Cirrus Computing. He is founder of the Institute For Practical Project Management (IFPPM.org), and manages DeeplyPracticalPM.com and PMTrainingOttawa.ca.Bill has given more than 330 live training courses in project management, risk management, and negotiating to more than 3,300 people. He is author of the "Deeply Practical Project Management" book and online courses with more than 125K students, and watched for more than 3M minutes a year. He authored the first web published book, the Living Internet website, with many contributions from the people that actually built the Internet, acquired by Centerfield Media Holdings in 2020, and now personally posted at LivingInternet.info. Before consulting, he founded and ran the cloud company Cirrus Computing for ten years. Before that, he spent 14 years in aerospace with Lockheed Martin Canada, where he served as the company System Engineering Manager and Software Manager, Project Manager for system integration projects from $250K to $55M, and in senior roles on PM teams for projects up to $3B.His first real job was to establish and manage a computing centre supporting 4,500 personnel for the Canadian Public Service, where he developed software to manage enterprise-wide scheduling, resource management, and payroll. During this period, he also developed and taught two programming courses that were accredited by Seneca College. Bill received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UNB in 1992 for discovery of algorithms that build geodesic domes in multiple dimensions in optimum space and time. While at UNB, he also taught eleven undergraduate courses.
