My job offers me the opportunity to contribute to our paper in several ways, and that's really important to me.As a reporter, I cover a 17-town county in rural eastern New York, and also write features and profiles. My job also has me as the city editor Sundays and offers the opportunity to work as a photographer and paginator as well.I write a regular blog and am active in our social-media efforts.

I have helped organize and taken part in 10 Polar Plunges to raise money for Special Olympics. I have done extensive public-relations work and have also volunteered at events.

PLQ Freelancing is where I do my freelance work, which ranges from writing newspaper articles, press releases, newsletters, obituaries, letters and resumes.Social networking is important here as well, and I help either establish or improve the use of social networking for personal and professional reasons.Digital photography is another service I offer, as is research.

Active volunteer in a variety of areas in the SCA, including public relations, fund-raising, event-planning, carrying things and making things go.

I assist in all editorial aspects of the six papers in our weekly group, including the Granville Sentinel, Whitehall Times and Lakes Free Press.My duties including story planning, layout, writing and editing, photography, use of PhotoShop and layout using Adobe InDesign.Primary assignment is coverage of Granville, Hebron, Hartford -- and in New York -- and the Vermont towns of Wells and Pawlet.

Coordinated of $100,000 state Department of Health ACT For Youth grant for youth leadership and opportunities in Washington and Warren Counties.Responsible for all aspects of grant management, including training, publicity, finding volunteer opportunities, selection of mini-grant projects, and coordinating a board of 30 youth and adults.Grant ended June 2009
