About Bill Webber

I have been a life long salmon fisherman on the Copper River Delta and in Prince William Sound operating my fishing vessel since the age of 11. I am a direct market catcher/processor marketing my harvest to restaurants and other source concious buyers around the country. I have developed and am marketing a new product form that only the harvester can supply the marketplace. This product form I call "Processed at Sea" Headed & Gutted Fresh. In my business model my product is pre-rigor processed as opposed the traditionally harvested and post rigor processed fresh product. The quality handling standards and procedures that I have developed have helped me redefine and create a fully maximized shelf life window for the product and product form I am marketing. It is also of the highest quality that can be obtained because of the handling and pre-rigor processing that I do at the point of harvest. One of my goals is to utilize my skill sets to lead by example and show the last of the true hunter-gather, the Alaskan salmon harvester that there is another way to earn a wholesale revenue stream by changing their business model and taking the risk of retaining ownership of their harvest all the way into the marketplace to better their income for their families. After all, if you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got.Specialties: As a marine engineer, CAD designer, welder fabricator and boat builder, I have made many pieces of equipment to enhance my onboard processing efficiency. Having implemented, perfected and automated Pre-rigor Intravenous Pressure Bleeding into my processing operation, I have redefined what the maximum shelf life window can be in a fresh H&G product form. This process is a huge push on the quality bar and further exemplifies why my motto is "Discover the Processed at Sea Difference".

Listed skills include Process Improvement, Restaurants, Manufacturing, Entrepreneur, and 46 others.

Semi Retired

Webber Marine & Mfg., Inc.

Cordova, Alaska

In the winter months I operate my own boat building company. I also am a marine engineer, welder fabricator in my winter business. This has allowed me to develop and build the various tools and equipment to process salmon at sea on a very small boat. Aside from the equipment I have built for my own boat, I have made a huge contribution to this region of Alaska's fishing fleet. I have built 50-55 boats, hundreds of pieces of hydraulic deck gear that is used in the fishery as well. In the recent 15 years, my focus has shifted to small vessel onboard processing equipment for salmon. Most notable is the development of an Automated Intravenous Pressure Bleed Control system and production efficient processing stations for salmon that provides for a pre-rigor processed quality specification. I have built Alaska's smallest salmon catcher processor vessel complete with a host of automation and production efficient tools to achieve my goals and made a name for myself in the fresh salmon industry.
