In the winter months I operate my own boat building company. I also am a marine engineer, welder fabricator in my winter business. This has allowed me to develop and build the various tools and equipment to process salmon at sea on a very small boat. Aside from the equipment I have built for my own boat, I have made a huge contribution to this region of Alaska's fishing fleet. I have built 50-55 boats, hundreds of pieces of hydraulic deck gear that is used in the fishery as well. In the recent 15 years, my focus has shifted to small vessel onboard processing equipment for salmon. Most notable is the development of an Automated Intravenous Pressure Bleed Control system and production efficient processing stations for salmon that provides for a pre-rigor processed quality specification. I have built Alaska's smallest salmon catcher processor vessel complete with a host of automation and production efficient tools to achieve my goals and made a name for myself in the fresh salmon industry.

With my interest in the yachting and cruising life style in my off season, I have accepted the next wheel watch at the helm of the PWS-Yacht Club on March 26, 2009. Our club is a very small grass roots effort and are in the process of resurecting and raising our flag once again for the membership in beautiful Prince William Sound in south central Alaska and the many cruisers that pass through our northern paradise.

Through my efforts, I have redefined and also learned what the fully maximized shelf life window can be or is. I have currently shipped my product into 42 states since working in the business model.

Cordova District Fishermen United (CDFU) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and perpetuating the commercial fishery in Area E. CDFU has a board of 13 experienced commercial fishing permit holders in 4 seperate divisions: Gillnet, Groundfish, Seine and Herring. CDFU is governed by organizational bylaws, which determine eligibility for Board membership. Board seats are staggered, and any Prince William Sound commercial fishery permit holder can run for a seat in the division in which they hold a permit.CDFU’s structure is divisional, enabling each gear group to deal with gear-specific and allocative issues without comprising the function of the entire organization to address issues relevant to all commercial fishermen. It is important to note that CDFU, as an organization, does not take positions on gear-group allocations, but rather leaves that to each specific division.CDFU is a 501(c)(5) non-profit organization, and as such is able to partake in political lobbying activities. In 2007, CDFU formed a FishPAC to raise funds to be used for making political contributions to candidates running in state elections. Advisory committees are the local "grass roots" groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to the boards. There are 82 committees throughout the state each with expertise in a particular local area.

The CR/PWSMA is a Regional Seafood Development Assn, (RSDA) that was formed in 2005. We self assess our members a 1% tax on gross landings to market our regions seafood products and can also work on infrastucure projects for our harvesters. We are currantly working on creating a brand identity and marketing promotions for our PWS harvested salmon.

As required in our Bylaws, one board seat is to be filled by a licensed commercial fisherman. I was asked to run for this position in the fall of 2008 and was elected onto the board to represent the mainstay industry of our community.

The CRSPA, now defunct was a bargining Assn that represented our regions harvesters interests by way of negociating revenue sharing contracts with the shore based processing companies for and on behalf of the regions fleet. It was our goal to bring price stability for our harvesters and into the marketplace as well. This organization served it's purpose during it's time as the changing dynamics of our fishery and the market demand for the Copper River product has grown over time.
