My role will be to provide guidance on the global legislative environment to ensure that Apollo products are fully compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements in line with the company policy. Working with the Compliance, Design and Product Management teams, I will be helping to ensure that product designs, from concept through to launch, are compliant with regulation and legislation across multiple regions.Technological advances necessarily precede changes to product standards and I shall also be working with various agencies to tailor compliance solutions for new and innovative products as Apollo continues to meet the needs of the modern industrial world.

Overall ObjectivesTo Manage and provide Technical Leadership for the LSS Schemes in relation to CertAlarm, Intertek Tick Mark and Constructions Products Regulations (CPR).• Ensure all Certification procedures relating to CertAlarm, Tick Mark and Construction Products Directive “LSS Schemes” are in accordance with Scheme requirements.• Ensure all staff are trained and following the Intertek procedures for “LSS Schemes”• Provide Training where required to Intertek Staff.• Ensure the LSS FPC procedures are in accordance with LSS Scheme requirements.• Provide support and guidance to auditors and conduct / assist with external audits as required.• To instigate and head internal technical committees where required for Interpretation of rules, reviewing of standards and technical documents relating to the “LSS schemes”• To perform all Certification activities such as Certification Officer, Certification Reviewer and Technical Reviewer as required.• To be the Intertek representative for the LSS Schemes for regulators / accreditation bodies such as CertAlarm, CPR NB and UKAS and ensure accreditation is maintained.• Liaison with clients, including development of professional relationships and providing technical support• Reviewing and monitoring on a continuous basis opportunities to improve procedures and processes to increase efficiency and reduce certification turnaround time.• Support for internal sales and business development staff and activities• Provide support for obtaining new accreditations and development of new services within Intertek. The Process Improvement Manager manages the processes essential to continuous improvement and business productivity. This can include but is not limited to mapping activity processes with the aimed at new process introductions along with continuous improvement in process optimisation across the breadth of the UK Intertek E&W activities. The role ensures attention to efficiency improvement initiative implementation and administration.The “PIM” is responsible for the Business efficiency and improvement analysis, planning and implementation throughout the UK Intertek E&W organisation. Reporting to the UK Intertek E&W Director, the ”PIM” is an integral member of E&W leadership team, working closely with relevant stakeholders such as Business-, Operations-, Sales-, Quality,- and Lab-Managers to ensure the appropriate objectives and priorities are enabled/embedded within the plan and organisation.

Having had a long and varied experience of design, manufacture and approval of life safety products, it is a natural fit for me to be involved in such activities as drawing up test plans and quotations, evaluating clients' submissions and reviewing test engineer reports. There can be a natural conflict between cutting edge products and technology and the sometimes aged standards and regulations that must be adhered to. This can be where a consultant engineer is most valuable but the role is wide and varied.

Working with the Approvals Manager, I was responsible for ensuring consumer products were designed to meet worldwide approvals and legislative requirements. This involved having an input at design stage, pre-compliance testing, document compilation through to gaining the necessary approvals from various agencies across the globe .As a project, I led an initiative to identify the presence of a material additive in plastic parts & products, plan for its removal and organise customer communications.

Technical Support, design, approvals, environmental, legislation, standards commitees, industry expert, marketing support.During my time at KAC (Honeywell), I was involved initially in the design of electronic circuitry and plastic mouldings. I also covered a lead role in technical support and took charge of the approvals for all the companies products. This involved CPD, EN54, ATEX & a number of other standards covering regional products and approvals. Given my industry experience, I was also quite involved in the NPI process, marketing discussions, external audit requirements and the business generally.The company worked to a number of initiatives such as Six Sigma, Lean Principals, Continuous Improvement and HOS (Honeywell Operating System). This gave me good experience of tools that I had not experienced at Cranford Controls.

Writing daily previews for allocated race meetings, providing a short preview and a selection for each race. Also responsible for League 1, League 2, Scottish Premier and Tennis content.
