My role as Premier League Primary Stars officer allows me to use the appeal of the Premier League and football to inspire children to be active and develop important life skills. Using resources in which have been designed and created I’m able to provide and deliver exciting English, Maths, PSHE and PE sessions, with flexible activity ideas, lesson plans, assemblies and exclusive videos. PSHE topics include resilience, diversity, self-esteem and fair-play. Leading these sessions allows me to have the added benefit of having huge impacts within schools helping to lead to increased pupil enjoyment of sport and physical activity and having a positive impact on their community. Teacher CPD events also allows me to work along teachers in either group assemblies or as a one to one basis who may not be comfortable within the delivery of physical education. Then over a certain amount of weeks we aim to up-skill their knowledge and understanding of the topic and how it can be delivered in a way to suit them and make it an enjoyable subject to deliver. Through providing the theory behind lesson plans and why they are so important to have or offering a differentiation of teaching methods are just some of the basic steps I offer in order to help the teachers become more confident and comfortable with teaching.

As part of my role I am involved in a wide range of teaching and coordinating lessons inside a partnership school and sports coaching with multiple age groups, this includes;Working day to day at schools creating and delivering lessons, hosting afterschool club events for all children of all ability and also coaching on a evening with children with advanced ability. As part of the Education arm of the Community Programme, each week I lead/support a timetable of football focused or sports focused PE sessions and clubs in multiple different primary schools. All sessions have to meet the National Curriculum standards. Each week I develop a lesson plan to ensure all participants get the most from sport.The Health & Engagement arm of the Community Programme allows me to work on various projects from sport and mental health with adults to engagement with disability sports.This varied role has also helped develop my skills in mentoring and improve the support offered to my players/students who all have different issues to contend with outside of playing football for Walsall FC.

My apprenticeship at Walsall FC Community Programme entitled completing a 1st4sport level 3 Diploma.Through the apprenticeship I worked on a range of different areas of the job ranging from working on weekends coaching children different football sessions and often showing them what a football session consists of allowing them to progress onwards in their footballing journey, working with the mental and physical health side of the community, leading sessions and offering out individual opportunities for participants and then working in schools helping teach lessons ranging from Physical Education to classroom based lessons such as maths and English.This apprenticeship allowed me to develop my skills which I continue to use everyday and skill continue to develop each day. I completed classroom based lessons with a tutor who helped me look at a range of things which I'll need when teaching and working within the Walsall community.Once I completed my apprenticeship, I was offered full-time employment by Walsall FC Community Programme.

To help grow a football club the directors approached me on running a Girls football team. Being something I wasn't familiar in I was happy to accept the challenge and work alongside another coach on helping work with the girls and spread the awareness surround female football. Our hard work eventually paid off when the BBC approached us to compete a televised story on girl's football and spreading the knowledge people may need to help them to take that first step in playing football.
