I have been in the construction industry since 1995. I started with Hill & Wilkinson as a labor, quickly caught on to layout and was a field engineer assistant for three years. During this period, I was enrolled in a program through North Lake College in Irving, TX called Construction Education Foundation (CEF) taking Field Engineering classes. I then traveled from site to site with the survey crew laying out all the projects and setting up control before I went on my own to some bigger projects. While working on single projects from start to finish, I knew I wanted to be a Superintendent, and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 2008. I then enrolled into The Associated General Contractors of America, Supervisory Training Program (STP) through CEF. STP is a ten course program specialized for construction supervisors. Beginning of 2011 I was made a Superintendent and have completed several good projects. I have to say, there is nothing better than walking away from a completed project, with your owners happy and willing to pay to keep you for their next.
