Pre-test for stereo vision, color perception, visual field, fundus photos, and gdx laser scan when necessary.Take all required measurements for a patients new spectacles including; segment heights, pupilary distance, ocular center, and temple length.Proficient in manual p.d. measurement with p.d. rule.Determine best lens material according to patient Rx and use of spectacles.Determine best frame size and shape and material according to patients face shape, Rx, p.d., temple length, and philosophy of use.Determine the best lab to order lenses from, based on Rx, cost, and delivery time.Check in all jobs arriving from outside labs, including uncut lenses for in house edging, contacts and completed jobs.Edge all uncut lenses to frames, while ensuring surfaces are protected from scratches, accuracy to Rx, and fit & finish.Maintain and repair older manual equipment no longer supported by manufactures.Kept continuous records of all equipment repairs, and repair cost in order to analyze overall repair expenses versus profit and replacement.Call on all completed jobs for pickup, or to inform patient of breakage and delay.Connect with various labs to inquire on late jobs, lens defects, billing, and other matters.Inventory all frames and lab supplies, reorder when necessary.Sell eye wear and lens options to patients with private insurances.Bill private insurances once services have been rendered.Give new contact wearers classes on installation, removal and care.Instruct new bifocal and progressive lens wearers on use and care of new spectacles.Answer patient questions regarding new specs, wear and care, and various eye conditions.
