I am a partner in the family team in Withers’ Hong Kong office.I pursued a career in family law because it allows me to interact with clients in a personal manner. Every day, I am driven by my passion to craft and find a solution to very difficult problems my clients are faced with. I think of myself as a new generation divorce lawyer and a believer that the term 'family law' is no longer limited to divorce but to include other areas such as guardianship and maintenance claims. Over the last 10 years of qualified experience, I handle all aspects of family law including, but not limited to, divorce and separation, nuptial agreements, children custody, and complex financial disputes with substantial assets. I advise on cases involving complex asset holding structures and trusts, many of which are cases that have international interests. I regularly advise shareholders of multimillion conglomerate on the implications a divorce proceeding may have on them and also their businesses. I have the ability to think outside the box and be innovative in coming up with a strategy that showcases my legal knowledge even in jurisdictions outside of Hong Kong.With children-related cases, I advise on cases involving relocation application that have become very popular of late. Representing the husband and won at one of the first Court of Appeal relocation cases in Hong Kong during the COVID-19 outbreak. I regularly contribute to a number of articles on family law for legal publications, such as The Hong Kong Lawyer and STEP Journal. Additionally, I am a qualified collaborative practitioner and a member of the Hong Kong Family Law Association.Notable Cases:NC v PHM, HCMC 2/2019, FCMC 15518/2017Advising on ancillary relief and children matters. Concerned a family of net worth of not less than HK$2billion consisting of shareholdings of a Listed Company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Involved complicated shareholders' dispute.H v W, CACV 81/2021Advised the father in appealing the Family Court's decision in allowing the mother in relocating to Singapore with a young child of the family during the COVID-19 outbreak. Successfully setting aside the lower Court's decision.LYYC v CHL and CSMS, the Executrices of the Estate of CGSK (decd), FCMP 223/2017Advising the applicant for maintenance against the Estate in respect of a Cap 481 claim.
