Principle Structural EngineerEvergreen Structures Jun 2017 - Aug 2019Evergreen Structures provides a variety of services for both the residential and commercial industries. We specialize in remodels and custom builds on homes in the surrounding areas. As a structural engineer I have been the lead design engineer for multiple custom design homes around the DFW area. I have also lead remodel and renovation work on a variety of homes and small commercial properties. Each structural assessment includes a detailed drawing of the home with elevations taken throughout the first floor, an interview of the current resident to get a history of the home and any damage, a visual walk through of the exterior and interior of the home, and a report detailing the findings of the assessment. After each assessment, I sit down with the home owners and discuss my findings on site. This investigation is in accordance with a Level B investigation as detailed in the “Guidelines for the Evaluation and Repair of Residential Foundations – Version 2” by the Texas Section American Society of Civil Engineers. I also complete a variety of projects detailing the structural wood members of a residential home. Typically, the projects have been renovations or additions onto existing structures. When a homeowner wants to make alterations to their home, I first must determine the current condition of the home. This involves drawing up the entire home and making observations similar to a foundation assessment. I then inform the homeowner of the general current state of the foundation and options to improve conditions around the home before beginning demolition and construction. Next, I determine all the structural components of the home including the following: the direction of the ceiling joists and their size, where the roof is braced, and if the house is a pier and beam, then the location of the piers and direction and size of the floor joists and girders. Once all this information is gathered I can then calculate and design a solution for the homeowner. -
