I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Webster group at the John Innes Centre understanding how the molecular machines that control chloroplast gene expression function.Whist at Tropic, my current focus was on leveraging CRISPR and other molecular tools to enhance crop resilience and productivity, contributing to global food security. Before joining Tropic, I served as a postdoctoral researcher at Cardiff University, where I employed a systems-based approach to unravel the mechanisms controlling cell size in plants. This role honed my skills in integrating various biological data sets to derive meaningful insights into plant development. My academic journey includes a PhD from the prestigious John Innes Centre, where my thesis, "The Cellular Basis of Symmetry Establishment in the Arabidopsis Gynoecium," provided significant contributions to our understanding of plant developmental biology. My technical expertise encompasses a wide array of molecular and computational techniques, including:Gene Editing and Genetics: CRISPR, Molecular Cloning, TransformationGenomics and Proteomics: Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP-seq), RNA-seq, Yeast Two-HybridMicroscopy and Imaging: Confocal Microscopy, Time-Lapse Imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)Data Analysis and Bioinformatics: Morphographx, ImageJ, R, Python, SQL, BashExperimental Techniques: PCR, Quantitative Real-Time PCR, Western BlotVisualisation Tools: Photoshop, IllustratorWith a solid foundation in both practical and theoretical aspects of plant biology, I am eager to collaborate with like-minded professionals and organisations to push the boundaries of agricultural science. My goal is to translate scientific discoveries into tangible solutions that address the pressing challenges faced by modern agriculture.

I was using confocal microscopy, time-lapse imaging and genetics to understand plant cell size regulation in the group of Dr. Angharad Jones and co-supervised by Prof Jim Murray. I used Morphographx to extract cell size data and intensity measurements from time-lapse data. I collaborated with mathematical modellers at Nottingham University.• Investigated cell size control in the shoot apical meristem using imaging and mathematical modeling in a collaboration with modellers from the University of Nottingham.• Performed 96-hour and 12-hour time course experiments in the shoot apical meristem.• Determined cell size phenotypes in mutants of cell cycle regulators to test mathematical models.• Processed images and data using MorphographX, ImageJ, R, python and SQL.• Panel Member Cardiff Biosciences Departmental Postdoctoral Seed Corn Fund Judging Panel
