About Billy Covington
I've spent the past 20 years leading creative graphic design projects (real-time and post) for Broadcast Television, Film, Print & Digital working as an Art Director, Graphic Designer, Animator, and Producer. I have enjoyed collaborating with other Designers, Animators, Editors, Producers, Software Developers, Broadcast Engineers, Marketing, Sales, Communications and Creative Services departments, and local and international vendors on projects both large and small.I began my career as a graphic designer and production artist. Gradually, I found myself in supervisory roles - producing and art directing, managing the workflows of large projects and teams, working in concert with clients to find them the best creative solutions for their projects, and also doing my best to ensure that my teams are supported with the resources and information they need to succeed.At Bally Sports, I work primarily with the "Bally Bar" scorebar graphics system - Upgrading the design and functionality of the system, working with our vendor to ensure the changes are implemented and tested, and facilitating training and requests from operators, producers, and executives.At Fox Sports, I was the point-person for many large-scale design projects - organizing, planning, and delivering the design and production of thousands of graphics assets for broadcast, print and digital, and ongoing daily graphics production for Fox Deportes, Fox College Basketball, Fox Soccer, The Herd, & the FIFA World Cup integrated graphics package for the nightly Fox Soccer Tonight during the 2019 Women's World Cup. Previously, I was integral to the 2003 launch and subsequent rebrands of NFL Network and its many daily live and post-produced studio shows and live broadcast events - including the NFL Draft, the NFL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, NFL Total Access, the international feed of the Super Bowl, and many others.I also developed and co-designed the on-air User Interfaces for NFL Network’s first interactive touchscreen monitor apps. At Rhythm & Hues and Digital Domain, I shepherded thousands of Visual Effects shots through the VFX pipeline for three feature films, working with large teams of talented Visual Effects Artists in the U.S., India, Mexico, and Canada.I love my wife and kids. I'm interested in art, design, travel, history, politics, trivia, cycling, tennis, electric and classic cars, and classic movies. I'm always ready for a new adventure, and eager to continue to engage in work that I can be proud of, and that makes the world a better place.
