The VEC is the administrative agency responsible for the delivery of election services in Victoria. Their remit includes increasing the publics understanding of, and involvement in, the democratic process; particularly among those groups identified as being disengaged from, or facing barriers to, the electoral process. As Team Leader for VEC's Community Education Team, I was responsible for engaging a range of community groups including multicultural communities, Indigenous communities, people living with a disability, young people, prisoners and people experiencing homelessness.This included: - Managing the development and implementation of the VEC Community Education strategy.- Developing and monitoring the Community Education budget.- Monitoring the progress of individual projects within the Community Education strategy, setting priorities and goals, developing and monitoring individual performance plans. - Identifying and developing strategic partnerships with schools and community organisations.- Evaluating and preparing high level reports for the VEC's Management group and external stakeholders. - Managing and completing staff performance appraisals.

* Advised and wrote BBC web content addressing political literacy for young people and in response to current global events. * Reviewed, redeveloped and provided ongoing updates of the 'BBC Citizen X' website, the BBC's flagship Citizenship education website.

LSN is a national not-for-profit organisation, which specialises in delivering innovative solutions in the learning and skills sector. * Provided tailored staff training and coaching around political literacy, student voice, the teaching of controversial issues and developing community cohesion to post 16 school, workplace learning, youth & tertiary settings. * Reviewed and identified opportunities for National Diplomas to address cross curriculum priorities. * Developed and facilitated workshops for the European Union Youth Forums held across the UK on behalf of the European Parliament.

The Citizenship Foundation is an independent education and participation charity.Work undertaken for the Citizenship Foundation includes:* Co-authoring guidance for teachers and school management on dealing with and teaching about the far right in the classroom. * Developing teaching resources for a variety of projects exploring identity, political literacy and economic wellbeing. * Delivering training to schools in the delivery of Citizenship education. the development of “citizenship-rich” schools and communities, the nature of citizenship as a school subject, the tensions between different conceptions of citizenship as process, identity and status, and the interplay between citizenship and national, faith and community identities.

* Developed and delivered innovative workshops across the UK to teachers (specialist & non specialist) on engaging strategies to teach about the European Union on behalf of the UK Office of the European Parliament.

* Lectured in the 'Graduate Certificate in Teaching Citizenship' at Plymouth University, specifically around assessing political literacy & engaging the support of senior management.* Created modules for local authority teacher CPD training on Citizenship including ‘community cohesion’ and ‘volunteering & Citizenship’.* Developed teaching resources for various ACT clients including Hodder Publishers, MEND and the History Channel.* Co-organised the 2008 National Citizenship Conference including arranging sponsorship, promotion and workshops.* Established and co-ordinated an active regional Citizenship teaching network group for the north west of UK.

* Developed, trialled & evaluated assessment approaches in both Citizenship and Personal Social & Health Education for national roll out and publication. * Evalated and reported upon the impact of the 'disciplined innovation' model of curriculum development adopted by the UK National Curriculum. * Assisted in the accreditation of new GCSE (similar to VCE) Citizenship specifications.* Helped to embed cross curriculum priorities within the national curriculum through writing published guidance and presenting at national workshops.* Active member of key stakeholder groups including Citizenship reference group, GCSE Citizenship curriculum review, community cohesion & addressing diversity in the new primary school curriculum.

* Established and led new departments in Citizenship and Psychology including introducing new GCSE qualifications. This involved developing all schemes of work & assessment strategies, the monitoring of the quality of teaching, learning & the progression of students and contributing to school strategic planning.* Developed and coordinated numerous whole school themed learning days to address cross curriculum priorities. * Coordinated School Council and school radio station.* Department showcased by the Qualfiications & Curriculum Authority as an example of best practise in developing political literacy and working with local communities.* Subject mentor for trainee teachers (PGCE, Teach First and GTP programmes).

In addition to the same responsibilities held in my more recent teaching post at Salford City Academy, I also:* Introduced and delivered the new GCSE Citizenship qualification. 100% of my cohort achieved A* - C (national average - 53%), 26% achieving A* (national average 2-6%).* Awarded a place on a 'Teachers International Professional Development' study trip to Vienna, Austria to investigate behavioural strategies.

* Designed, resourced and delivered a personal development programme for tertiary students addressing personal and social issues relevant to Papuan students including domestic violence, HIV / AIDS awareness and career skills.* Responsibility for monitoring the delivery of the programme by staff across the university.* Complied with international quality assurance standards followed by British universities.

* Teacher of VCE Psychology & History, achievements of which include enrolments in these subjects doubling.* Teacher of Humanities and Health studies.* Re-established a student council with an active membership of 10% of the student body.
