Network Engineer 2

North Charleston, South Carolina, Us

Successfully managed information technology in the U.S. Navy’s IT21 automated digital networking system (ADNS) by applying my knowledge of basic computing concepts and industry standards. Ensured successful transmission of data, voice, and video to the U.S. Navy shipboard units as well as shore-based units by ADNS. Successfully assisted in the architectural engineering, configuration, and implementation of the newest Cisco devices into the United States Navy’s ADNS IT21 network. This implementation required in-depth understanding of IT concepts, standards and practices. Responsible for analyzing, designing and documenting all shore based and attached ADNS networks using a UNIX based Network Manager and its use of HP Open View Network Node Manager. The systems required troubleshooting of very sophisticated problems as the network based TCP/IP traffic is transported through legacy stove pipe communication paths. After these systems were successfully installed and implemented, I was responsible for the System Operation Verification Testing (SOVT) and final acceptance of the system. I was responsible to the customer to provide proper training to users, administrators, and maintenance personnel based on the customer’s needs. I used (LQosMan) to analyze user interfaces, maintain hardware and software performance tuning, analyze the network’s workload and computer usage, maintain interfaces with outside systems, analyze downtime and analyze proposed system modifications, upgrades and new COTS. Also performed Taclane KG-175 SOVT testing, familiarization, and training.
