Design Manager
Current» Oversee the design department by supervising, managing, mentoring, motivating, hiring/firing, & providing training» Conceive and implement ideas, guidelines, and strategies in various creative projects and oversee them to completion» Handle or assign special projects for the company and all its divisions, including marketing pieces, internal projects, concept artwork, and company web design and graphics, while maintaining company brand guidelines» Collaborate with Sales to obtain knowledge of the clients’ requirements and with Production to ensure scheduling stays on track and quality of work stays consistently high-quality» Hold trimester & annual review meetings with team members» Offer knowledge and guidance to the designers to continually expand their knowledge of the field and use their skills effectively» Schedule team-building activities as needed» Cross-train team members so all areas of the department have sufficient backup» Have a comprehensive understanding of all design department tasks, responsibilities, and functions and also be able to complete them effectively» Assign jobs to the design team» Ensure the design team adheres to current processes and procedures, while continuously seeking out ways to improve the department’s efficiency and effectiveness» Lead brainstorming and creative sessions to generate ideas» Revise, review content and presentations, approve/reject ideas, provide feedback to the team» Monitor results of team efforts and propose actions for the future» Maintain relationships with external vendors» Handle all scheduling and pre-press responsibilities for approved jobs» Process all invoicing from the plant to sales for completion. QC finished samples as part of the process.» Approve all department overtime» Recruit and utilize freelance staff as needed to ensure that the department is running efficiently
